Lyon 2-2 Manchester United: Onana errors cost United Europa League quarter-final lead
A pair of Andre Onana errors have cost Manchester United a first-leg lead against Lyon. The United goalkeeper caused quite the stir in the build-up to the Europa League quarter-final by labelling his side ‘clearly better’ and it came back to bite him.
He flapped at a free-kick delivery for Lyon’s opening goal and was at fault again for the hosts’ dramatic late equaliser.
Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee got the goals for United with two accomplished headers but they were let down their goalkeeper. Thiago Almada was the beneficiary of the first error before Rayan Cherki capitalised on the second.
The two teams will meet again for the second leg at Old Trafford in a week’s time.
